Just got back from a hunt in the interior and my 14 year old daughter was able to get her first deer and a nice one at that. Full disclosure, this was a private land hunt granted to us by some very generous landowners and we are thankful for that. That being said, my girl was able to make a great shot at 275 yards with her .243 shooting 80gr TTSX handloads. She's been hunting since 2019 when she turned 10. Her and her mom went to take their CORE together and PAL for my wife, taught by Brian Cummings. That year we took her out for the whitetail doe season and while she had opportunities she wasn't able to seal the deal. The following year she had her first LEH, a bull moose draw. The very first morning of that hunt we were all surprised by a young bull right on the road but it disappeared pretty quickly and we didn't see another moose that trip. The next two years she had limited opportunities to hunt as I went on an all-consuming fly in moose hunt in 2021, then in 2022 both her and her younger brother started playing hockey and as a lot of you know it is a very time consuming sport. I really regretted not taking time to go out last year and I was starting to wonder if she was losing interest in hunting but she insisted she still wanted to do it. So this year we decided hockey could take a backseat for a week and we headed up into the interior to recharge our batteries a bit and do some hunting. Here is the result, a very happy young lady and a beauty buck!

Great deer. Congrats to her.
Out of curiosity, why does Hunting private land need to be "fully disclosed"?

Perhaps it doesn't, but it was my choice to say it as it was part of the story
