I never consider myself never a Big Game trophy hunter seeking biggest antler deer or moose. I am just hunter whom trying to get legal Game meat. Over years I did get quite my fair share of Mulie bucks, Columbia Blacktail bucks, Sitka Blacktail deers Whitetail deers, 3 LEH bull moose and black bears over period 33 years of Big Game hunting. I quite stop hunting Big Game animals for about 5 years due to work related right shoulder and back injury but still continue waterfowls hunting with my younger friends not so much shooting but calling in the ducks for and geese for them. I sure get lots of enjoyment in this. Being hunting waterfowls and upland birds for 51 years. After intense physical therapy and not lifting heavy items. I got better and did start shooting ducks, geese and grouse again but not Big Game.
That change on Friday October 6 , I always bring my rifle with me when hunting road chickens. I took a young hunter up to region 3 for some road chicken hunting by driving along forest spur roads. We did well, this 3 time this season I got our limits. Driving back, my friend spotted a deer on hillside and I bail out because I was only one with blacktail tag. I saw the buck at distance on hill and thought I cut it off by travelling down the ravine on right side. I spooked a mulie doe and she bolted or she actually hopped away. Kept walking and still spying the side of hillside. by stroked of luck the mature 4 pointer was walking down the hillside towards me at about 100-120 yards. It took me 3-4 second to shoulder the my Sako 270 WSM and shoot. I aim sighting more to left chest hoping to hit part of shoulder and lungs. After the shot the buck dropped. I got part shoulder and it enter the spiral cord. The Barnes 130 gr. TSX did it job. Sorry I not much story teller.
