Bull missing teeth

Question for the elk guys/bios.

Harvested my first bull this year. He was missing his two front teeth. Wondering if this is strictly due to old age? Anyone seen this?

How does one go about getting an animal aged?

Used to be able to send in one of the incisor teeth and they would send back the age of the animal. Maybe phone at CO and ask

Many years ago, I harvested a cow moose under a December LEH tag. There were no front teeth that I could see so I removed the front portion on the lower jaw and submitted it to the C.O. for inspection. I received the notice in the mail that the moose was aged at 13 years old.
