anybody else notice the lack of blueberries in the alpine this year? I'm in region 2 and so far I've hiked to 3 different mountain tops in the last 10 days. All the same, completely void of any blueberries in spots that are usually just full of them. guessing its the hot dry summer?

Yep, dry year, didn't see any bears in the alpine, usually see 5 to 20..

The berries happened around here but not as large and were done early, even the rose hips look like raisins

The berries happened around here but not as large and were done early . . . .

Hungry bears under stress . . . hibernation soon.
Not a good situation, be careful out there.

Experienced the same thing last week. Been to this mountain several times in September for bears and didn’t see any sign of bears. And zero berries up there, I assumed the dry summer as well.

I’ve noticed the same still find berries in the shady spots down low on those mountains. You’d think the bears would be more reactive to calls now then.

Exactly right, this was caused by the hot dry year we've had, I've seen the same here in R3..
