Just looking for some intel and ideas for new areas to hunt.

What's are some suggestions for areas for deer hunting, (mule or whitetail or both) for deer hunting in the Kootenays or Okanagan?
There's an antlerless season in October in some MUs in both areas as well.

Parameters: Driving from island, setup to camp in a forestry site for a week or so.

- How is weather(snow) at higher elevations in late October in region you recommend?

I'm was at places like Christian Valley, Grand Forks, Cranbrook, Rossland area, etc... but have a hard time to select an area sight unseen.

(I know regions 5 and 7 more so looking to explore somewhere new with my teenage son).

Feel free to DM me if you do not want to say too much publicly!

Any help appreciated!

Lot of country to explore in both regions, much of it mountainous almost guaranteed snow at higher elevations that time of year. Have winter tires on before you leave the island, many interior hwys mandate winter tires starting 1 October. Chains are also advisable to have along if you're doing any kind of exploring on FSRs.

This photo taken 23 October 2019 at an alpine lake I frequent for fishing & hunting. Eastern region 8 MU that borders region 4. Close to 2 feet of snow already in some spots. Elevation ~ 1600 meters.

Thank you for the tips and info on snow.

I have good M+S tires on the truck and winch. But chains are a good idea. Will pick some up!

Chains are a huge help. I don’t leave home with out them anymore. Make sure to buy some bungees also.
