Anyone still do this on the return trip home ? I for one liked seeing them as I was heading up country to hunt .
What do you fellas say ?

I agree with you Arctic, I also enjoy seeing them. I’m not going to put a whole deer on my hood or anything but I do let them sit uncovered in the box on the ride home for anyone who cares to look.

Last year my hunting partner and I were lucky enough to get a moose draw and flew in up north, we ended up tagging out after a lot of hard work and boot leather but that’s a no that’s story. On the way home about 9 hours south of our “airbase” we drove past another truck that had a caribou rack in the box. When we passed we seen an older gentlemen and perhaps his son also making the long trek home. We both gave each other the thumbs up in congratulations and in that brief passing we shared a moment of triumph and respect. Not a word was exchanged but the occupants of both vehicles knew what the other was feeling.

i thought it was a cool moment and it sticks with me today.

I always do, definitely don't try to hide them but maybe not quite tying them to the top of the truck but on top of the gear yup

you don't see too many tied to the front bumpers anymore. [ social acceptance??] But I will mount the antlers to the quad rack or sxs. I look forward to seeing the same on other travelling hunter vehicles/ trailers.
10-12 years back we pulled into a petro-can in Langford on our way home, this guy rips a u-turn to get a close up of our moose/ deer antlers tied onto the bikes on the trailer. priceless

Love seeing the racks rolling through town during hunting season. Always checking out camping rigs that I pass on the highway to see if they're sporting any bone.

A buddy and myself brought 2 bou home, antlers on the roof of his vw golf. (From Dease Lk)
Got a bunch of thumbs up until we hit Boston bar.
From Boston bar to chilliwack we got two fingers.
The best thing to do, was laugh hysterically at the vegetable eaters.

Prefer to see racks in a nice tank top……but I also like to see them in truck boxes.

3 yrs ago we brought home 2 bucks on top of a load of fire wood that came up to the box rails, the following yr I had a buck on top of a cab height load of wood. The buck was in plain sight, I got a lot of thumbs up and a lot of funny looks, hell, I’ve skinned elk/moose in my front yard at 12pm……it’s who I am and I’m not hiding it.

Always try to have a tine or 2 poking out from the back, just to peak interest (good or bad, f*ck 'em)

We tied our moose skulls on top of the trailer for ease of packing up all the gear and obviously to display them.
Haven’t had any other racks to display thus far but I’ll be doing so when I have the chance. https://i.imgur.com/zrrIl8g.jpg

The last time we went up north we had the 3 racks out of sight in a cargo trailer and back of the pick up, it was the one time we didn't get pulled over by a co, have to take all our guns out, all the meat out and get questioned about not leaving genitals on a black bear. As much as I like seeing racks and displaying them, its not worth the inconvenience of unpacking everything and packing it up again on the side of the hwy.

I remember this image so well…..20 years ago this year, we were driving back from a caribou hunt out of Dease. We were driving my buddy’s diesel Jimmy so we were packed in pretty tight.
The only place to put the racks was on top of the cargo rack that we had built for the trip.
As we were driving south in the late afternoon we could see the shadows of the racks cast upon the side of the road and trees.
We was a great feeling coming home heavy with some great meat and antlers. I’ll never forget that image.

Here is to hoping that I'll have to decide whether or not to display some racks on the drive home haha

Done both.

But certainly agree with what other say regarding inconveniences of the CO.
If you do display have some for thought on how easily accessible the game is, rifles….

Theres many who choose the discreet method for one reason or another.

We got stopped 3 times in 2013 coming home from Tetsa river, once by a CO and twice by RCMP. Cops just wanted to see the Antlers, 51 " spread still in full velvet.

I also am hoping to be able to display a moose rack this season with my draw. If I do, I’ll make sure all the “arrestables” are close at hand for an easier stop.

I’m off to hunt with my buddy for our LEH Shared Bull Moose draw in 7-25 we will be in the bush September 28 to October 18 . I’m relatively new to that MU . My previous moose hunting was in 7-23 and did well there . I hope to be bringing home a displayed rack from the trip .

The first time moose hunting many years ago while coming home we stopped in at the Cache Creek game check, we had a cow moose, after the Co checked us out he said hey guys come over here and see a real moose. The other CO's were checking out an other group of hunters. The other guys had a truck towing a jet boat, the only thing that was in the back of the PU was a caribou rack, a sheep thin horn head and a moose head, a 71.5" spread moose head. Now there was some bragging rights. LOL

Okay last post of pictures of the 2023 Moose Hunt . I only saw one rack displayed on the way up to hunt this year and it got me pumped up . So for my return trip home I debated wether to display the rack or not ,I opted to display in hopes to encourage other hunters going on their trip . Idid get lots of thumbs up ,especially in the construction zones .
