Greetings HBC Team
New to the site although not new to the BC hunt (Reg 1,3,7,8 regular) ...
I'm in need of your thoughts/expertise re: a new stock.
I have recently acquired a circa 1967 Steyr-Mannlicher 8x68 (Monte Carlo style stock-not full length) from the annual Munich gun auction. The stock has been cracked completely through (mid-stock around magazine area) and repaired poorly (apparently it was broken by baggage handlers in transit back from an African hunt?). I would like to bring this gun back to "like new" condition, all is excellent with exception of the stock ... and would welcome your thoughts/feedback on the following:

Where can I find a new stock? (Identical or Custom ?)
Recommended gunsmith in Lower Mainland (Italian SG or ?)
Expectations on reliable/consistent groupings after stock replacement? i.e. can I expect the gun to shoot differently? Thanks in advance for weighing in on this!

cheers

Maybe try the Gunsmithing forum on Canadian Gunnutz with that question.
