My brother drew the tag, he is very excited and hoping to harvest his first elk. Already he has been to a couple spots and found some sign a few minutes drive from his house on the sunshine coast!
Draw is oct 10 - nov 20. He has only elk hunting in northern BC and used to getting into full rut bugling action, following elk up the mountain etc.
Is the rut about the same time as northern BC? Do people find that rosies in southern bc near larger centers to be more quiet or about the same? Any different strategies he should consider? I am hoping i can get down there at some point and help, i told him to try and set up game cams and attempt to locate a target bull or two and hold out for the first half of his draw as opposed to taking the first meat bull.... is this sound advice given the population?
