Just looking for any knowledge on goats in this zone. If anybody has had the same draw? Yes I will be doing pre season scouting, no I’m not asking for your spots. I will be doing a bunch of research and heading out there multiple times before the opener. Just thought maybe with a little guidance that it could shorten the learning curve as this is my first goat hunt. Thanks

Boy. You've got your work cut out for you on this one.

The good news is that you can approach 2-11 B from the Upper Lillooet forest service road on the north side of the Lillooet River as far as Salal Creek and hike from there. Forget about the roads on the south side. They are closed and only access Zone A anyway.

Did you plan on hunting on the North or South side of the river? I don't know if there are goats on the North side hills. Mt. Meager is on the South side and if it is possible you could approach up one of the creeks. The Lillooet River is somewhat smaller up past the end of the road too so you should find crossings, unlike lower down where you'd need a raft to cross, but that would be Zone A anyway.

I'd advise you to join one of the hiking/mountaineering web sites and ask there if anyone has advice on how to access Mt. Meager from the North or how to get to Polychrome ridge. Do not mention hunting though, they hate that.

Thanks for the reply. I’m not 100% sure of exact spots yet. I’ve been looking on onX and it looks like I can head north past Pemberton and hook around towards Tenquille lake and the berkenhead area. Zone b is everything north of the lillooet river. I have been looking on the hiking pages and it seems like goats are spotted regularly enough. But if there’s a road on the north side of the river that might be the best option for getting in there. I’m away at camp now but in a few weeks I’m going to head out there for a few days to look around. Really appreciate the help. from both of you! I guess now I gotta get out there, get high up and start glassing lol thanks again.

Double check the details on the Zone map. I am prepared to be corrected but as far as I can see Zone 2-11 B starts West of the Tenquille/Birkenhead area.

I have zone a and also going scouting mid to late July for my first time in there. I'm gathering into too looking at being in there opening day. Zone a is supposed to so ridiculous, apparently one guy said it was a one and done trip. He got his goat though. I'd be happy to compare notes even though we're in different zone.

I've been diving in to all kinds of 2-11a info and then I double checked my LEH authorization. Turns out I got 2-11b - Upper Lillooet. I plan on heading up July 21st to start scouting. Let me know if you want to coordinate efforts.

once you find goats, spend time making sure you ID them properly and if at all possible, get above them

Plenty of goats up that way. Spotted them in the cliffs just above the fsr.

It's getting close Island.diverr

I drove up there with my boy on Saturday. I let him think he saw a goat but it was a rock. He told mom that I freaked out when I saw it. haha

There's a lot of beautiful alpine up there. I can't wait to climb up. I couldn't believe how much grizzly sign there is. Piles every 20' or so in some spots. It's been over 20 years since I couldn't give a damn about fishing amongst those big bruins but my risk tolerance is a bit different these days I guess.

Salal Creek was so swollen, there's no way across unless it starts freezing up top. I was hoping to hike over to the PP but looks like I'll be working north from Athelstan or Hemionus.

Last thing, if anybody can shut the oven off, I'd appreciate it. Thanks
