Who’s living around the elk valley? Crowsnest pass? What’s the outdoor life like? Is it better to live in Alberta or bc for hunting?

Im considering a change and have been chatting with teck.

Fernie at least had gotten insanely expensive in the last decade. Not sure what sparwood and elkford are like.

I’m joking but not joking at the same time…..housing is very hard to find in elkford and sparwood. Not sure about fernie or the crowsnest pass but I don’t imagine they are much better. Fernie is the most expensive of the areas mentioned. If you want more specific info….send me a pm

Ah come on... there's a bare 120 acres out there with my name on it and I promise, we're the kind you want to move in

If you can afford 120acres then you’ll have no problem with housing.

Crowsnest looks like the most desirable spot for me, but fording river is where I was thinking of applying. Looks like roughly a one hour commute each way.

It’s around 45min to elkford from the pass. What job are you applying for?

Both side of the border near the mountains are beautiful buster. Good fishing and hunting. I believe the season for rifle is pretty short on the Alberta side down there. House prices likely to be lower on the AB side. Never forget the Alberta advantage. No PST, no carbon tax on fuel. Plus, the **** Trudeau capital of Canada!!
BTW, **** TRUDEAU!!

I don’t have one, but every time I see one in GP, my pureblooded heart swells with pride and no heart failure ensues…… never been more happy to be an Albertan, a northern Albertan, in the last few years. It is worth something. NDP is NFG, prove me wrong!

The east koots are getting shut down because of Rec users from the Alberta . Messing up the grasslands.

Yup that’s the major spot but there are some others. It’s minor for the most part. J270 do you know that area ?

^^ I understand from some very recent information that the AB ORV users have been ignoring road closures in a number of places and as a result a definitive action around many roads and areas in the EV are being looked at. Actions will be varied, but closures, deactivations, gates are likely. Locals seem to 'obey' signage, but not so much the visitors.

I know this area pretty good. Used to ride all the single track around Door rd until all the idiots showed up and started making hill climbs everywhere in the trees and riding where ever they wanted. We used to be able to ride roughly 100km of trails and now it’s down to around 20km.
