This past spring, I picked up this beauty shed with over 20 inches of mass and a couple cheaters. At a visit to a local taxidermists shop, I noticed a set of sheds someone had brought in to get mounted. I coudnt help but notice the similarities. The matched set was picked up a year earlier than mine was and in the very same area. So is it the same buck regressing, or another buck of the same genes?????????

I'd agree with your assessment.....indeed it looks like the same buck, abit older and on the way down perhaps...lost abit of length and mass.

Happens to us all....eventually:lol:;)

Cool find though

I would say different bucks. From my experience the bases and where the brow tines come off the base should be pretty near the same...And these sheds dont look to be. Only way to tell, ask the owner where he found em, or you tell him where you found yers. Or tell me and i will figure it all out for you

The brow tines don't look like they're in the same spot to you MattB?
Also Mark said they were found in the same area as one another...

Nope they dont look the same. Look at the bases of the larger sheds, they are burly! Marks sheds are clean and clear...

Here's what consecutive years sheds should look like....

We shall have to agree to disagree on this one because as far as I can tell those sheds are from one and the same. Apparently they are from the "very same area" and display very similar traits. Although the brow tines might be slightly off, they are certainly not very far off. Mark should just tell us both where they're from and we can then find our own conclusions. Nice sheds and nice buck by the way Matt.

At least he is waiting to post the thread until he has the pcs rather than posting the story and getting razed for pics for 3 pages. Nice sheds mark, looks like the same buck for sure. Can't wait to see the Whitey pics.

I say its the same buck. That pic that shows it from the side is pretty convincing to me. If it isn't I would say that there are some strong genetics in the area.

So are you wondering if its going downhill to the point where he isn't worth hunting next year Mark?

Im pretty sure its the same buck, most people are. But, a veteran mulie nut looked at the sheds and brought up the exact same points as Matt mentioned. The browtine is slightly higher, and longer on the smaller shed, as well less burly. The other hunter guy was sure it was from another deer, thats why I put out to you guys for opinion!
OT, ya thats what im wondering, but Ill still hunt for that guy and make my decision when I see him! Hopefully catch him on t-cam this winter and find his sheds in spring!

they look like the same deer or at least the child of the earlier one, but probably the exact same one

could be the same deer or just the same gene pool. I shot my muley this year and the with the identicaly rack as the mount in the bar in town............same goofy small tine on the back fork. It was shot in the same patch of timber as mine.

But who knows...............do we a have a CSI on the board?
