Did anyone else catch the news about the huge land slide at Chealis lake. The pictures on the tube were unreal. The camp site I believe to be at the north end is totally gone. The entire outflow area of the lake is awash with thousands of trees.

I'm trying to find a media link, but as yet can't find one. Look like a very large area of what I once hunted is now off limits.

WOW!!!

Just found this link. http://www.canada.com/globaltv/bc/story.html?id=9a23f00b-50d3-4e9e-b1b3-88251571e0ce&k=29814

Let me guess! It was caused by logging near Prince George.

Me the kid and Mr.Dean sat and had a snack there just a few weeks back. Guess we'll have to find another spot. I was going to head in there tomorrow for a last try. I'm taking the camera for sure!!

That is spooky. The power of Mother Nature is truly awesome. Thankful that no one was hurt.

It was caused by the 2010 Olympic development. That and pine beetle and global warming:roll:.

Or just shithouse luck.

Either way that was a good place not to be:eek:.

Looks like a big wood salvage opportunity here. They need to get some booms in there to hold the logs in the lake and they better do it damm pronto.

Isn't that something for sure? And they expect it'll create more problems to come. I certainly hope that they can get on it asap and keep subsequent problems to a minimum. Nature sure is awesome!

I sure wouldn't have been fishing in that lake when that slid came down.

Holy crap! Would hate to have been on that lake when that happened!! Anyone who has since gone to the lake seen what the wave damage looks like, pics?

Looks like more than just a mudslide, like the the underlying rock slipped, as in Hope slide style. But maybe it was mud - can't truyly see that from the pics.

Nature is awesome.

Every log salvor hopes for a few slides like that once in his/her's lifetime. Many big slides on the coast seem to just about reach the water's edge but not quite. No problemo with this one. Whoever gets the rights to salvage that wood should do very well to say the least. As was mentioned earlier. Boomsticks......PRONTO!!!!

Check out the photos in the "download" link at the bottom of the page.

Be warned they are not dial up friendly!!! I found that if you click on the img as it's down loading it will resize to fit your screen.

This is on area that I won't soon be hunting. IIRC the road above the slide area is one I have walked a couple times. I'll pass!!!

Wow, some of those pictures are incredible.
I guess I won't be quadding/hunting/camping up there for awhile.
That is a real shame, beautiful easily accessed area gone.
