What are you looking for???
Both are good for caribou if they are around, but they get lots of pressure. If you are willing to put on a pack and carry a weeks supply of food and walk away from these lakes you will do ok.

I Guided at both. Beautiful country but rugged. SC is right, both lakes have large outfitter base camps on them all season long.

Are both camps Geraci's or does he lease one out ?
I hear there may be other species to be had in the area, too ?

Ever since that 46" ram was shot at Johiah it has been a hotbed of hunter activity. Kinda like Clearwater and muleys. :D

Yes, Bryan leases Johia from Geraci. Bryan owns the Obo area to the south.

For what its worth, if a fly in lake is commonly heard of its going to be busy. As it was mentioned above these are WAY out there so your going to be paying big dollars to get there unless your Butcher and your buddy has a plane...:p

Another way to look at it -- the main guide outfitter camps would not be there if the hunting wasn't half decent. They will have their spike camps away from the lake as well but more often than not they just conduct their hunts on horseback (i.e., up early, ride 2 hours, hunt the day, ride 2 hours back to the lake). Whereas if you hike away .. you're already up there.

If its sheep you're after, pack your gear and hike / hunt away from the lakes.

Pretty country and expensive to get into.

Its true - ever since that 46" ram was shot out of Johiah country, its been a little busy.

The big one taken at Johiah was well advertised...if I am not mistaken it was the first year that the area was subleased from Geraci....they used the pic to drum up business. In '97 IIRC??

It wasn't being leased by Bryan Martin back when the big ram was taken. I think they called the company Johiah Lake Outfitters. Wes Berge/Jim Collisimo.
