Calling moose after October 15?

It is all speculative of course, depending on the LEH results but I was wondering if it was worth calling for moose after the rut?

Not my idea, but my friends want to apply for an October moose hunt in the October 15-31 period in Region 5.

Our group has hunted the October 15-October 31st draw in Region 5 for 30 years. Absolutely calling is effective at this time. The last time we were there in 2018 we took 4 mature bulls. I got mine on the last day and I had been calling in this particular spot for a few days including the evening before. At first light there were two big bulls bedded down about 100 yards in front of my natural blind I use to call from. There were some great mornings over the years that the air was alive with cows calling. We have also hunted the November 1-15 draw and while hunting is generally tougher we have had bulls come to calls.

The one in my picture was Oct 23, so yes cow call.

I had a shared draw one year starting Nov 1, 4 guys so we could take 2 moose. Day one of the hunt I called 2 bulls into the same cut block.

I have had some luck around thanksgiving, but my experience leads me to believe moose numbers have plummeted in some region 5 areas with authorizations and decent odds

That is still within the main rut timing window. I was asking about after October 15.
