Hello Forums,

Brand new hunter here. I wanted to ask if anyone might have suggestions for a good spot to hunt some rabbits?

I'm mostly a hobbyist chef - I plan on learning hunting largely to learn how to cook game better. If someone could recommend a few spots to hunt rabbits or something easy for beginners I would appreciate it very much.

Oh, if you want to take me hunting to cook for you I am more than game. Seasoned camper / hiker / outdoor cook. Just sayin'.

Most mountains with grassy patches will have bunnies.
Last I hunted rabbits, mountains around Princeton had a number of them.
But rabbits are seasonal, where they used to be many, might not be any.
So you do have to walk to find out.

Old hunter's adage
Only hunt rabbits during months that have an R in them
holds true for colder months as there is less of a chance for tularemia

If you're looking for snowshoe hares on roads, optimal habitat you find them at is roads bordering regrowth cut blocks lined with alder, in Mt experience..

Aside from diseases, the R rule for rabbit hunting applies to protect dependent young still with the dam.
Wait till September to hunt rabbits, it's the right thing to do.
