Hi folks,

Another new hunter here. Trying my hand at spring bear.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to assess at what elevation things are getting green at any given time so that I can head out to my chosen spot at the right time.
I've been taking a look at BC highway webcams at comparable elevations, and I think that's an alright approach but I wonder if anyone has any alternative techniques that they use to assess whether or not a certain area has started greening up without actually heading there.

Thanks!

Maybe try lurking the gardening or hiking chatter,
for high elevation maybe ski area webcams

There will be plenty of bears dropping in 2 3 and 8 this week, saw 3 commuting from Merritt to Kelowna grazing on the green up, no snow up as far as elk heart and that’s pretty damn high..

get out there and get a bear !

next weekend will be full steam ahead, will be our first weekend out and I wouldn’t be surprised to fill both tags with the activity and sign now.

Took a look today at the Pasaytan, and the snow is retreating and shoots of grass bought an inch but still pretty brown. AND that's like 1200m.

Region 7 is still under a lot of snow up high. The pampers bears are out already around town, never eat one of those myself!! Best advice is to get out there and look for yourself, scouting is part of this hunting gig. Maybe throw out a couple trail cams, see whats poking its nose around. Great tool for finding ungulates for the fall as well. Plus, there is nothing better than smelling fresh mountain air, and having a weiner roast while your out there! Moosin

Just find the blooming dandelions and you will find the bears.

I use webcams and note the elevations on google earth. Brohm cam is 1550m and theres still a good 7' of snow. There's 12 steps to the deck of the chalet and only the top steps is showing. The Sea to Sky gondola is at 880m and there's only a bit of patchy snow. I also see what the grizzlies up on Grouse are doing, they've been moving in and out of their den lately.
