So I started spending more and more time in my ground blind and have come to enjoy that style of hunting.. BUT,,, spending 5-6 hours sitting,,, quietly,,,, requires a good chair. I am NOT going to spend 300.00 on a fancy swivel one as I want to purchase a second blind setup. I am using a folding metal patio chair now, but dont like the metal sound and it creaks badly.

I was thinking of taking a wooden kitchen chair and a seat cushion, but wondering what others are using. No, those camping chairs that fold into a bag will not work as they are next to impossible to get up out of to line up a shot.

Ideas?

I just picked up two of those chairs that fold in to a bag from Costco, but these have high backs, have sand feet and are a bit taller, I think. I’ve sat in the regular ones and they hard to get out of. Not the option you were wanting. But I also don’t want to spend a ton of money on a blind chair. Don’t want to have to carry one of those big things in every time and, like you, I want to be able to run multiple blinds soon.
Here’s the link to what I picked up https://www.costco.ca/cascade-mountain-high-back-chair.product.4000060344.html

I use the cheap folding camp chairs along with a heat seat cushion. Works ok for me, but I'm pretty mobile and generally not moving around too much while in the blind. I think the heat seat provides a bit of extra warmth and also raises me up enough to be a bit more comfortable.

We use office chairs lots that can move and swivel, just make sure they are not noisy. Depends how deep you are going in as they are a bit heavy

Only $120, I like the one with arm rests myself, way more comfortable for long blind hunts.

They have another one that is only $60, but I think it's built a little smaller, which would be ok if you're not a moose.

I have experimented with a few of these types of chairs over the years. This one https://www.cabelas.ca/product/140232/blackout-swivel-hard-arm-chair is pretty comfortable and swivels well and you can adjust the legs for uneven ground (which is often the case). Then I upgraded to this one https://www.cabelas.ca/product/141593/blackout-comfort-max-360-mag-elite-blind-chair and its much more solid and just as comfortable as the first one. I like the arm rests for getting a more solid rest to hold my rifle or crossbow. But the problem with both of these is they're pretty heavy and awkward to haul in and out of the bush, especially if you're a ways back (impossible to be stealthy). And I also found they take up a lot of space in the blind, especially if you have someone else in there with you.

The last few years I've been using this one https://www.walkstoolcanada.ca/ and its definitely my new favourite. It doesn't swivel, but its extremely light and very very solidly built and surprisingly comfortable to sit in for long periods of time. When you need to take a break from sitting in it, its easy to quickly fold up or move to the side while you stand up in the blind to give your ass a break or lie down and take a nap because it doesn't take up any space. I pack it around with me in pack while not hunting from the blind and often use it for glassing or setting up behind a stump or trunk. They come in different sizes so you can get the one that fits you best. Another thing I like about it is that it comes in pretty tall sizes as well, so you can make sure that when you're sitting, your knees are situated below your hips (not above them like lounging chairs - which is terrible for your lower back and hips). And I've had no problem shooting my rifle or bow from it

Good luck

For gun hunting you don't really need a swivel, but it is nice. I spend most of November in a blind, bow hunting, eleven hour days. I use an office chair and two Cabela's 360 swivel chairs. Both are very comfortable but the office chair is obviously not portable. The 360's are great but heavy for long packs. Unfortunately, lightweight, comfortable and cheap don't really go together. But for only four hour sits there are options. I'd be looking at a three legged, swivel with a good back rest. That and shooting sticks should serve you well. Three legs are easier to shim up to level. Height adjustable would be a bonus.

Thank you very much for the useful information you have provided. The Walking stool looks like it is the ticket.Which size do you use?

I use a round of wood. Uncomfortable but locally available, at least where I hunt. "Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional."

round of wood or stump customized with a 2x6 back rest, and pack in a padded swivel to go on top, cheap one like for a pail seat, or a metal boat seat swivel

Well you guys are way tougher than I am to sit on a block of wood for 5-6 hours at a time. I have seen people mount the swivel boat seats to a wooden step stool, but weight will be an issue there. I really like the look of this one, but cannot find it for sale in Canada:

Maybe I will take a roll of duct tape to my metal folding chair, knock the noise out of it and try that for one more season. We also use these while ice fishing and they are not bad; https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/for-living-portable-upholstered-padded-metal-folding-stool-with-backrest-black-0680340p.html?&&&&ds_rl=1283573&ds_rl=1283573&gclid=CjwKCAjw3POhBhBQEiwAqTCuBiAjY8kbFCiGA5E9HldX ATq-0g4E8fPaCzrpWX8tkHd6ky3n_mwyuRoCQ-AQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#store=438

The Redneck chair seems like a clear winner. Several guys on HBC have shipping boxes just across the border. Maybe someone would be willing to help you out that. Free shipping to their box and lots of people traveling back and forth and I find there’s lots of hunters willing to help other hunters.

Having sat in ground blinds for 10+ years, I have sat in a few different ones; some were comfortable like this one - https://www.costco.ca/timber-ridge-d-frame-director%e2%80%99s-chair.product.100811890.html. But the nylon washers and bumpers would squeak when it was cold, annoying as hell!! The "Blind Chair" was to unstable to me, especially on uneven frozen ground and arm rests were too low for me.

This is the one I have settled on for me, both as a crossbow (80%) and rifle hunter (20%). I know they are not for everyone, but they work for me. - https://www.homehardware.ca/en/earth-brown-stacking-ergonomic-adirondack-chair-with-cup-holder/p/6411566. I hunt narrow shooting lanes in the thick forest and only hunt out of one window, with the others open a crack to see what might be approaching or holding up.

No squeak, comfortable, especially with a seat cushion for the 8+ hours I sit and the little cup holder comes in pretty handy. I try to place the chair at a bit of an angle as I am right handed.

What ever chair you chose, practise shooting out of it while in the blind and get used to it.

Cheers

I had one of the redneck blind chairs. It was not very comfortable and obit heavy. I said I "had" one. Mine was stolen.

I use the Blackout Three legged swivel chair.

It is very quiet, the odd creeeek you get used too.

Compact, stable on three legs when set up properly, I do find the triangle shaped seat hard on the package after hours and hours of sitting and wish I had got the flatter square seat version.

Overall. I like it and would recommend it. A bigger heavy dense foam pad placed on the triangle seat lessons the package irrational.
