I might be in the Vanderhoof/Finger Lake area in June. How are the black bear populations? Is it worth taking a rifle. Not the primary purpose of the trip. But I love bear meat and new areas are always fun to check out.

I'm sure there's lots of bears there like everywhere else, always worth bringing a rifle just in case. Good luck if you go!

Bears are everywhere, you'll see more bears than moose and deer combined!! Take a gun and 2 tags!!

No need to imagine, there is, lots!!! Seen a huge boar 3 years ago, he stood, his chest was level with roof of pick up!
