Hoping to get out in search of some wolves in the Bonaparte area in the next couple weeks. Wondering if anybody has any tips or advice for hunting them up there, going to be the first time actually trying and not too sure how to go about it, Thanks for any help!

You’re going to need an electric call for sure, then find an area with sign and set up the call in a shooting lane and be patient.

Mount Grant is between Loon Lake and Young Lake, I’ve hiked all over it, should be named Grant Hill it’s not very big !

Brown Creek is just South of Eagan lake and on the North side of Bonaparte Lake headed EAST from the Bonaparte south heading road ! RJ

Locate with long drawn out howls, either by voice or use an electronic call like a Foxpro or similar

I was there on the long weekend. Plenty of wolf sign. saw one but too far off to get a shot and wasnt coming in to my calls.
Also came across a moose kill not from wolves but looks to me like poachers

3-30 by pressy lake I think. Was out and seen a dead deer on the frozen lake with an eagle and some crows on it. Thought wow this is pretty cool through the binos lol. Look around the lakes edge and this wolf was running back and forth. Couldn’t get a shot off as he gave me all the time in the world probably but I didnt see him at first. Was too busy watching an eagle eat. Live and learn, was my first wolf in the wild I’ve seen.
