This is my first year hunting after I got my core course. Me my mom and my dad put in a shared mature bull moose draw and we won!!!!!!!! So one day I skipped school and me my dad and my papa went hunting together. Well, me and my dad went for a big walk and saw 2 cows. When we got back to papa and the truck and we had just started off for somewhere else when we saw a big bull moose off to one side. So, we got out of the truck and set up the shooting sticks and I shot the moose. It jumped up on it's back legs like a horse and galloped off into the timber. My dad knew I hit it good so after a little while we started into the trees to try and find it. We were walking and listening very quietly and we could here it breathing so we knew it was close. All of the sudden I spotted it out of the corner of my eye waving it's head around wildly. We didn't have the shooting sticks at the time so my dad helped me get a good rest on a tree, and asked me if I could put one right between the antlers, and thats exactly what I did!!! The good news is my first moose was really big (40 inches!), but the bad news is the shot to the brainbox broke them in half (my dads gonna try to fix them). And i'm pretty lucky because I shot my first moose with my dads 7mm, and that I got my first deer and moose before I turned 11, AND, my dad and papa were both there for my first moose, AND, I got to skip school to go hunting (it was all my dads idea)

AND, I got to skip school to go hunting (it was all my dads idea)

LOL! Now that's funny! Although I didn't think it was a bad idea (even though his mom might have) I think it's safe to say that the thought crossed his mind more than a few times (like daily!) over the season!

Yes I was/am very proud of how he handled himself with both his deer and moose and with how hard he worked to get his CORE. And I'm positive that he learned more that day than he ever would have in school!

Here's a pic of our other LEH Bull and one of the 140 TSX's that were recovered from both moose The first bullet is from my moose and the second is from Mio's. Mio's was found only a few inches below the skull in the brain (he made a great shot!). I was really suprised to see that it flattened out as much as it did. Both bullets retained aprox. 77% of their original weight.

so what's the best way to repair a skull plate?

Mio, that is a dang impressive moose! Sounds like some pretty lethal shooting too! Hunting is way more fun when you could have been sitting at a desk all day instead, hey?

2 days before Mio shot his bull I got some video footage of a bull in the same area. I'm almost positive it's the same bull.

These are the best still pictures that I could extract from the video so far:
