Here is the story on what unfolded on my birthday Sept 04,2022 at 730pm bow season. My brother was set up in a cutblock with me about 100 yards away from my brother Rob Willman. I heard Rob call to me that he put a bolt into a bull elk I run over to him and said good on you Rob called this bull elk up from lower down into the slash. I asked him if he had a good shot he said yes I put the bolt into his front shoulder. I said lets wait for 30 min then go and find this bull elk. We waited for that 30min was like ever before we started to walk towards where the bull went. we only walked 100 yards and I said hold up Rob that bull is still alive so we stopped and waited with our eyes on this bull elk. finally the bull elk lay motionless. We walked over to where the bull was and it was not moving all was good the elk gods gave this elk to Rob. by the time I had cleaned this elk it was Dark we went back and got the camp Quad and gear got back to the elk at around 10pm the quad gave us trouble the battery gave out the lights gave out the winch gave out. we had lights they also gave out after an hour. We had to move logs etc to get the Quad to the elk and still it was a shit show getting the quad into the elk. We had to keep starting the Quad all night every 10 min or so ,had to let the Quad run at a fast idle to replenish the battery somewhat then continuing winching up hill Quad doing wheelies now and then. We had to cut the elk into two pieces so the Quad could pull it up hill. Finally we got the one half out at 1am then went back and got the other half out at 330am we got to Ricks meat at 430 am and that's another story on its own the elk wieght was 466 pounds,,big congrats
to my baby brother Rob on his first bow kill bull elk,,was very hard on both of us at our age in order to get this elk back to the truck and me having open hart surgery just under one year earlier.
