This is my first year of saving the bear fat and rendering it down. I have a couple litres of bear lard, what’s your favourite uses?

I like straight up cooking with it instead of other oils in the pan.
made soap, that was really good
used it to deep fry in

mine had a salmon smell last year so didn’t try any baking, but if yours is clean it would make great biscuits or pie crust

Use it instead of oil to cook with.

Yup, use as oil for cooking. Works great for seasoning cast iron too.

I have almost quit using seed oils or veg oils for cooking. I use butter and bacon grease for cooking. Bear grease would fit the cooking parameters easily. If your render it down 3 or 4 times it takes all the smell and everything else out of the oil. It is worth about $17 a liter to baking shops. I have never sold any though. Used it all for my cooking.

Pie Pastery. My wife used to get rave reviews for her pies when she used to use it.
