I was still hunting very slow hunting for my first Elk, ground wet making me almost completely silent. Then I hear rumbling at first I wasn't sure if it was thunder or hooves. Then I thought a herd of Elk was going to run by. Then I see a Doe running, putting my bino's up to see if it was a Buck. Then I thought well what could be chasing her..... Could it be a 4 point for some reason? so I waited a sec. Two Wolves high tailing after her.

Just so happened that they gave up the chase right infront of my field of view panting. Then they realize I am there and they look at each other than look back at me, and I took the one in the front that offered the better broadside shot. Was pretty crazy!

Also called a Bull in my first call in, he almost ran me right over 5 yards from me hooves in the ground stopping. What a trip! Got a week left.

First kill with the new rifle 300 win mag, and first Wolf kill, here's to many more!

Good to see. Most people have no clue just how devastating wolves can be to wildlife if their numbers are not controlled. Keep up the good work! The area that I hunt elk, wolves moved in last year and the deer have almost been completely wiped out since just this last year. So sad to see.

Thanks for sharing.
Nice and short yet the details and pictures made me feel like I was there.
Kinda has me interested in seeking out wolves.

I live in the lower mainland and don’t mind driving 3-5hrs away.
Anyone on here want to suggest units closest me that I should start?
I’ve read about wolves being almost everywhere….even Jones Lk (mu2-2), Skagit (mu2-3), Anderson Cr (mu3-14)
However Anderson Creek is washed out right now.

I’ve been wanting to check out more of MU3-17 and heard guys say they have seen tracks out there in the snow.
Anyone got suggestions on where to start?

Sorry ‘Observer,’ not intending to hijack your thread. Haven’t found to many threads with answers to my questions.
… And I figure guys reading here have an interest in wolves.
If a good wolf thread exists please someone direct me.

cheers

I want to start going on yearly Wolf culls, this year I do not think will work as i'm having work troubles and have gotten set back quite heavily financially and might need to find a new job in the coming weeks.

I think winter is the best time to hunt Wolves, as most will be down lower following wintering animals, easier to track in snow and calls I hear can be really effective (fox, rabbit, calf/fawn)

If you think you will still be interested next year throw me a PM whenever
