Hi,

I have a draw for caribou in the Atlin/Surprise Lake area for this year. My buddy and I are heading up near the end of the month. I am hoping their velvet has been fully shed and their manes turning white by this time.

If anyone has information on the area from previous hunts it would be greatly appreciated. I was contemplating bringing the jetboat and checking out Surprise Lake area maybe or bringing a quad and accessing the high country from the mining roads.

Cheers...

Got one in 2006 hunting from old mining roads.

Be prepared for some serious quadding and even more serious hiking!

Caribout. Don’t ya hate that and you can’t go back and fix it. I’ve done it a couple of times.

Nice bull, wishing the same or better for ya this year.

Any luck on this trip? We were there as well. Killed a bull that went just over 350” but had broken shovel and bez that the scorer would have put it at 390” had they not been broken.

Killed a smaller bull moose as well, 7x7 about 38” wide.
