Some of the old members probably wonder what happened to me on the forum  I had open heart surgery last sept 24 had 5 pugged arteries had to have 5 bypasses done in my heart as for a pig valve installed in my heart.
Had a pacemaker put in me as well its been a long up hill battle for me the past 11 months.

I was hunting solo in bow season for elk and I fainted woke up after a short time hit my head on the quad when I fainted used my xspot for help 2 hours went by no one showed.

I could only see out one eye about 20% because hitting the quad when I fainted caused my both eyes to close up.
I said to myself I have to get out of here after no show for two hours.

I drove out 40k on a windy gravel road at night with only 20% vision from one eye I almost got out to the highway and saw the ambulance and CO truck one K up the gravel road.

http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/medium/my_elk2.JPG

I lost the hunting season last year and almost lost my life I stayed at my sons home in Victoria to recover over the past 7 months come home in May this year.

I have worked very hard on my recovery the past 11 months believe me its been lots of ups and downs over the past 11 months .

I slowly got enough strength over 4 months to start working out and now I am to the point that I have 40% heart function from only having 20% after my operation..

Big thanks to KGH heart Foundation for saving my life..
Was May when I went out shed hunting for antlers slow but surely I covered ground in the mountains with my younger bother by my side after two months I had found
two matching sets of fresh elk sheds and 16 fresh singles.

In June I put out 12 trail cams and scouted for deer and elk ,,this is one elk this year I want this opener of bow ,,I have my self climber summit already anchored to a tree
in the big timber for opening season of bow..

I thought you just packed it in on HBC because of negativity directed toward you. Five bypasses is certainly not the reason one would expect.
Five bypasses is some kind of a record I would think. You mentioned KGH, I presume you must be acquainted with Dr. Hodge.
Anyway Wayne, I am very happy to hear that you are alive and well.

Holy smokes Wayne, thats a crazy story. I am shocked someone like yourself with legs of steal, who hiked so much in the mountains would have any chance of a heart problem. Its really nice you’re back in the saddle again and its a triumphant story you shared. I wish you would have reached out earlier, a lot of members would have been eager to wish you encouragement and that heals as well.

Happy hunting Salty.

Yikes, scary stuff. As to heart surgery, My father went in for a 5 bypass. Of that they ended up doing 3 and were upbeat on 2 of them. My father got 15 years after that day. He did have a balloon put in 8 years or so later. On the death certificate, It was Liver cancer. Go figure....
