Chris Parrino took this really nice Grizzly on a recent trip to Alaska. With his trusty 60 pound Bear B-Handle Take-Down (http://www.3riversarchery.com/Product.asp?c=44&s=155&p=200&i=20741X) and Muzzy Phantom Broadheads (http://www.3riversarchery.com/Product.asp?c=57&s=70&p=78&i=5799), Chris knocked this big bruiser off the top of the food chain! http://www.3riversarchery.com/images/TrophyRoom/2005ParrinoGrizzly.jpg

What a great grizzly! Chris Parrino harvested this brute in British Columbia using his 60 pound Bear B-Handle Take-Down (http://www.3riversarchery.com/Product.asp?c=44&s=155&p=200&i=20741X) and Muzzy Phantom Broadheads (http://www.3riversarchery.com/Product.asp?c=57&s=70&p=78&i=5799). Nice job, Chris! http://www.3riversarchery.com/images/TrophyRoom/TomHuebnerBrownBear.jpg
Tom Huebner
Tom Heubner hunted Alaska for this nice brown bear. He shot it at less than 10 yards with a 660 grain Gold Tip and a 125 grain Steel Force broadhead. He was bow hunting with his brother, Darek, and good friend, Aaron Poetter. Tom was the only traditional bowhunter in the group and he's very proud of his first brown bear with a recurve bow and arrow. http://www.3riversarchery.com/images/TrophyRoom/griz1.jpg
Pat Lefemine
Pat Lefemine, long time traditional bowhunter, made a fantastic shot on this big grizzly as it charged. The 950 pound mountain grizzly measured 8'3" and made B&C. Pat used a Black Widow recurve bow and Wensel Woodsman broadheads on this brute. Glad you made it home Pat!

Yup, grizz with a stick bow, that will get the blood flowing and the nerves tingling. Guarantee you all those guys were carrying a very large caliber handgun too. Maybe even a rifle backup guy just in case.

Scary for sure! I have to chuckle when I think of the mountain men hunting big bear with their smoke poles. I can see him now waiting for the smoke to clear as to his successful shot ....or not. These guys DO have some advantage over that situation thank goodness.

Maybe so but at the range one would need to get to with a Recurve ! Talk about a Stalk

Doubtful the Firearm would prevent you from getting a scratch or two if things went South though ;-)

Pretty sure Pats guide shot that bear as it charged him after he zipped it. I saw the video a couple years back on BowSite.com.
Either way a beauty !

The guide did have to shoot the bear after the shot but it was certainly unavoidable. In the video you see the camera dropped and the bears foot running past the lens. The arrow was leathal.
I would consider this hunt to be the ultimate thrill and it is one I hope to take at some point in my life.

Did those guys eat the bears or were they just after the rug?

Who cares............All were harvested Legally and I'm sure met the requirements of the law, which in BC or Alaska is to remove the hide from
FUR BEARING animals

Besides when one starts going after 10 foot Bears with a Traditional Bow the real prize is the experience of the Hunt..........not the rug, the skull, or the steak one may aquire in the process:wink:

6. There is to be no frowning upon a member for the method of hunting used, or the sex, age of the animal. If it's legal then it's legal no if's and's or but's!

These guys have big, big kahuanas!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a bear hunter but do not want a rug. Blackies scare me enough that I use a firestick. I love my bow, but do not have the confidence in my shooting to be that close to a bear. Kudos to these guys that shoot them with pointed stick. One of my friends has put in for a LEH in Fort St. James this spring. Good luck to him. If I had a elephant gun, I would back him up. It would be worth the bruise on the shoulder and butt. Shoulder bruise from the recoil and the butt from landing on it after the recoil. Puppychow.

Grizz meat is not really edible Dan. I would love to take a grizz with the bow. I do want a full rug with head showing those big ol chompers!! :-)

Hunting Tips: When hunting Grizzlies with a sharp stick and string, fill your pockets with 3 in. spiking nails, lots of nails, fill every pocket with nails, that way the prick will choke to death as he's eating you!!! And remember, there's 2 things in this world you don't f**k with, soft c*ck's and Grizzlies!!! Just kidding!! Took a lot of courage to do what they did!

Now that is a new self defense / anti bear attack strategy!! :-D

Kudos to the hunters facing a griz with nothing more than a stick and string. Personally I would never face a grizzly with anything less than a .300 mag. as back up.
