For a fly-in hunt (float plane within province) - how do you transport your rifle... soft/hard case or does it not matter really?

Just wedged between the back packs. No case.

Personally used a 2 gun hard case last year when we flew

Gun Sock nothing more. On a Bushplane every ounce counts.

First fly in was rapped in my sleeping bag and placed in between the gear. Second fly in, wedged in between the gear without the sleeping bag.

My last fly in was via Otter. I used a Kolpin gun boot.
Not that I'm uber concerned about nicks and dings, but it definitely adds a bit of buffer against scope knocks or crown bumps.

Nothing wrong with tucking your rifle in the plane naked, as others here do, just depends on your OCD levels.

Pretty sure the rifle is just between my legs and I hold it. I keep it simple with my pack and my rifle and no extra stuff. When you fly into one lake and get picked up in another you don’t bring extras.

No case. Rifle (or bow) goes where the pilot wants it.

IMO the best all round case, 3lb can be strapped to anything from pack, quad, horse. This one is 60 years old

I would throw it in a small soft case. ie: not one of those ridiculous tactical bags. They weigh about 6 ozs and will give some form of protection.
