We walked to the end of the rd. about 4 km. in a foot of new snow, still snowing like crazy, -4 celcius. About 3:00 p:m we didn't see many deer moving so I told my son to go to the other side of a patch of timber downwind from me. I waited for about 45min. and I started to walk through the timber trying to push deer to my son. I got to the other end with no deer coming out. I saw my son glassing the row of timber about 200 yds. away. I heard him whistle. We usually try to keep track of each other that way if we are close, so I whistled back. He didn't even know I was there. He was trying to get a big 4x4 buck to stand up so he could take a shot. I walked over to where he was & he told me there was a nice buck laying down. As I adjusted to take a look the buck stood up & my son shot. We saw the buck trying to get away but he was hit good. We tracked him thru the snow. He went into some thick stuff so I told my son to flank left & I would push himout. Sure enough he came out the other side & my son finished him off. What a beautiful first buck.

Nice bucks for sure - and how does it feel to hunt whitey on flat ground? Around here in order to do that, one leg should be shorter than the other or else you're always banging your chin with a knee.

Great pics and nice buck! It is so great to see good buddies in the field together. You'll cherish those pics in years to come. I regret daily the lack of pics showing my friends and I on yearly hunts. Glad you persevered and got them posted!
