The Grizzly Hunt.

A topic that sparks emotion on both sides of the table.

But although most populations are healthy, the grizzly bear hunt ended five years ago.

Why did this happen?

Tune into our FREE webinar on
Wednesday May 4 at 7:00pm PST to take part in a discussion surrounding this.

Sorry! I don't know if they changed the link or I screwed it up, and sorry for missing this post (feel free to message me next time).

This Zoom link should get you there.

They all get recorded and uploaded on the BCWF Youtube channel. Go to YouTube, search BCWF, and you'll see it pretty quickly.

Great webinar. If you haven't seen it it will be up on BCWF's Youtube channel soon.

I will say that at one point Dr. McLellan mentions the Hat Creek area and suggests that there are no grizzlies there now, and that in the past First Nations people from (probably) Bonaparte FN had reported them being present - I was just in that area with some Bonaparte people and they report that there are grizzlies there now, so, good news if you like g-bears.

Yes that was a good one for sure. Those were fascinating slides he posted comparing how so many more young males in Alaska get harvested and dont reach maturity, whereas when we were able to hunt them here, the young males were not getting over harvested and they had nowhere near as hard of time getting to an age of maturity.

And of course their populations have increased since the ban in most areas they inhabit. So not surprised to hear they're back in Hat Creek, but the only grizz i like are the ones that are fearful of humans - are there of those left in BC?

Define "soon".

I was notified last Thursday that this video would be up on the BCWF YouTube Channel that same day.
They provided a link that went to the previous session, not this one.
Apologized, and sent another link - FAIL.
Since then nothing. Crickets.

Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to miss this one.
Certainly do want to take it in though...

If you have any pull (and I assume you do) please tell them to Get On With the Show.
Literally that is.

It aired May 4th, and was on the BCWF YouTube platform May 6, so "soon" is defined as two days.

Never mind. The BCWF rep that contacted me had suggested it was going to appear in the Conservation Series.
It didn't but it is there under "Videos":
