I've got a couple of antler carvings I'd like to share but don't have the confuser skills on how to post pics. If there is a member on here that I could text the pics to and have them post it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Matt. I emailed them to you. Darcy said he would post them but I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you did it too.

Much appreciated
Blaine.

VERY Nice Collection!
Which reminds me - I have a few sitting in the shed that need a little attention over the coming winter...
Hope to realize something that comes close... fingers crossed!!

Cheers,

Thanks again Matt and thanks Darcy for the offer.

A little history on the carvings. The gentleman that did them is local to my area. His wife's father homesteaded my farm way back when the dirt was young. He just turned 81 last Saturday and does these carvings as a hobby.
The first carving is in memory of the hunts I was part of when I got to spend a little time in the territories. I do not have it home yet as I'm waiting for my nephew to get together a base from wood he is getting sawn in sooke.
The 2nd carving I had my friend do for another friend I worked for. Ken spent time at the finning dealership studying the equipment so he could carve it. He went so far as to put the segment bolts on the dozer as well if you look closely you can see the brim of the operators cap in the dozer.
The other 2 carvings of the antelope and whitetail were ones he had on his shelf that became a Christmas present for myself and the whitetail going to my nephew for a Xmas present. My apologies to Ken if he reads this about my piss poor photography skills as they do not do the justice to the workmanship and pride that was put into this project.

Thanks again.

Nice Stuff.
Certainly its own art form.
I was goldsmith, so carving was part of the job.
But, to do this type of work is quite different.
The closer carvers that i can think that does this type of work in the trade are those that do cameo carving.
Its one thing to get the shape of an animal carved for example.
It is a whole other matter to carve it with depth and the contrast in it.
Good stuff.

I'll pass that on to my friend Bugle. If you look a the brow of the moose it stands out almost 3d like.

Very nice work. I always like to look at antlers that are carved. An art form that few are good at.

Very cool!! As I get older, I’m finding myself falling into the love of artistic talent. How some folks put their thoughts into art is incredible.

I'd like to take credit but my artistic talent begins and ends with drawing stick people. All the credit belongs to my friend Ken. I gave him a idea and he did the rest.

Well I had another carving done. I still don't have the picture posting technology and if anyone could post it up I'd be grateful.

Thanks

Thanks again Matt.

This carving I had done is for my uncle. Since my dad passed away he has taken on the role my dad used to have so to show appreciation I had this carving done of my uncles beech 18 on floats. The background mountains are from a picture taken at hook lake, BC where the plane can be found when not at swan lake.
