After heming and hawing about buying one of these glorified pressure cookers, we pulled the trigger on a sale at Cdn Tire. What works, what doesn’t, “flavourite” recipes etc. Oh, and wild game of course :grin:

I’ve been using one off and on for two years. Mostly use it during winter months when chili, stew and Swiss steak become top items on the menu. They work really well

Used our twice and it is now collecting dust....anyone want one?

Went with an oven style air fryer and have never looked back.

BUT....the wife preps all our food on Sunday (I cook the proteins), so we don't have any need for a quick cooker during the week. It is open the fridge, remove a bunch of containers and mix and match food for lunch and dinner. Being doing this for 4 years and it has made our week day meals a whole lot easier!!

Cheers

I got a stainless pressure cooker made in Italy but haven't used it for quite a while.
This reminds me perhaps I should dust it off and put it to work.
Nothing electronic, just a well made pot.

SS and WCer,
don’t have an air frier, but wondered about them too. We have a couple big pressure cookers for canning Salmon (Aluminum) so no bueno for anything else… unless of course you like bear and salmon flavour

We bought this one

It does a great job of air frying, baking, roasting etc. Can fit a large chicken or a large pizza. Air fried veggies are amazing, chicken wings are good and pretty well everything else we have tried.

Also have a 22 quart canner for canning fish, veggies, meat etc.

Cheers

I like to do ribs in the instapot. Mix a bit of bbq sauce and water in the bottom. Throw the ribs in for 40mins or so, then finish on the bbq with some more sauce to get that charred flavour.

Squash cook up pretty darn quick in there too.

We love ours but I have to admit we use it less since we got our air fryer.

One of my faves is start with some oil, garlic onions, carrots and celery in the bottom of the instapot. Brown the roast (tri-tip a fave) or short ribs in the cast iron while that sautees. Cut up a bunch of potatoes and wrap them in tinfoil with some butter and herbs. Put the browned meat in on top of the celery/onions then put the foil potatoes on top of everything. Instapot is pretty full at this point. I think I pressure cooked for 40 minutes then let it drop down in temp for another 20. Lift the potatoes out, baste the meat with a bit of BBQ sauce and put it under the broiler for 2-3 minutes while you make gravy in the remaining veggies and meat fat. A bit of flour and a bit of cornstarch makes a nice gravy.

Add a salad if you feel absolutely necessary.

Delicious.

Insta pot or stovetop pressure cooker. The best for shanks IMHO. 45 minutes moist and tender. Much better then slow cooking them. Curry shanks are fantastic.

insta pot also makes great rice. I use it like a pressure cooker instead of a one stop cooking gadget.

Lots of fans of the air friers I see. Ribs in the instantpot and finished on the barbie, like that. Tinfoil potatoes in there too, a true one pot meal. Awesome guys thanks :smile:

They are good for decarboxylating cannabis. No smell.

Use traditional, if it's slow cooked then a slow cooker otherwise stove, stove top, BBQ, big green egg or smoker
