Hello,
One week into our two week moose hunt with little to show for it. Just wondering if anyone has any tips for some beginner moose hunters far from home. We have found some sign down low in the swamps. Should we be hunkering down and calling or covering ground. Havnt got any responses to any calls yet. Not sure if we are still early or just not in the right spots.

Any info is great
Thank you.

Very sparse, keep searching. Numbers still aren't great but they are looking better.

Find the freshest sign you can and cow call every 15 minutes from a good vantage spot and stay for at least 2 hrs plus. The bulls will eventually show up usually by grunting but could be silent. Dont get winded or they will take off.

Go far and high from the road .....the more remote the better .....find swampy, marshy area with some clearings not visible from the road and hike to it.... ....cow call...do not be discouraged by lack of sign.... if you see cows, try bull grunting...as there are bull/s following them.

Hmm agree on calling loud..every 15 minutes by your watch
If you have it buck expert synthetic moose urine
You don't have to be in a swamp..it's the rut..the Bulls are not eating
Be in an area your voice carries..not deep in the thick timber
Away from the roads
Stay in 1 location all day..silly to call in a bull and your not there to meet and great him
Some bulls come in grunting yes..but others sneak in preferring not to announce moose buffets in Isle 13..lol
STAY PUT CALL..FAR MORE SUCCESS THAN RUNNING AROUND ANNOUNCING YOUR PRESENCE AND STINKING UP THE HOOD.

What they said above. Moose are moving, call, call, call. Everyone else is driving around trying to get lucky. Put in some hard work and you will be rewarded.

We got one on the 11th hour on the last night of our draw. Called loud every 15 minutes for 3 hours. He started grunting at 7 pm and was on the ground by 7:15. From what I have heard from others and seemed to match our own observations is that the rut is a little late getting going this year. Better to stay put then roam around IMO
