Hello,

I'm hoping to see if I can help out a few friends who are are a moose hunt near Ed Asp Lake in northern BC. They are on day 5 of their hunt, and while they have seen some somewhat fresh sign, they have yet to see a moose. With only 3 days left they are getting a bit discouraged. (Non-LEH GOS hunt)

Has anyone hunted the area around this time and can give any sort of advice? I'm able to text him on his in-reach to give him any sort of help. They are hunting the marshlands and calling - no luck with anything calling back or any sightings.

As they flew in and have nothing but their boots to travel, hoping for potentially a decent area around that lake or pointers. Anything helps!!

Thanks in advance gentlemen

East end of the lake is probably a better bet than the west. More moose over toward the cottonwood. They are probably camped at the inlet on the west side? No boat makes it tough!

The rut just started in 7-33. First day of bull moose calling and coming in to cow calls.

set up in a good spot, cow call for a bit, then take a break. They will come in from a long way if they believe your calls.

good luck!

Time to change it up if they have been making noise and stink for a few days
pick the downwind side and sit quiet , let things happen instead of trying to make it happen
Chances are The Bull has been watching

is the g/o on the big lake this year?

Hmm Stu..your a great friend for your buds..what we discussed this am has been reinforced by the replies here.
Where...east..thar drainage goes a long ways bulls use it lots..
When it's happening NOW..snow and decent cold temp.
Why..if you only get laid once a year..they WILL be there.
Call often..every 15 minutes by the watch
Call as loud as you can.they can..
Listen carefully..bull grunts can sound like a hammer on metal at 3 kilometers..low tones ..
They are really busy at Thuya..
