I'm curious if a quality light weight spotting scope exists? I am currently using a zeiss diascope 65t fl and love everything about it except the weight. I'm hoping to find something with similar clarity but without all the extra weight. Most of my hunting is pack in on foot so saving on weight would be a huge benefit. I'm not getting any younger and my pack is feeling heavier every year. What are you guys using?

Check out the Athlon Ares UHD.

My buddy's 80mm swaro is lighter than my 65mm Razor (at 3lbs 8oz)

Kowa 55 is probably the lightest high quality optic that I've seen.

Im currently using Zeiss_Dialyt_Field_Spotter_18_45x65_ (https://www.precisionoptics.net/Zeiss_Dialyt_Field_Spotter_18_45x65_528007_p/528007.htm) which is 42 ounces. Not sure how it compares to a light weight

Kowa 55 is probably the lightest high quality optic that I've seen.

The reviews for the Kowa are great and they are super light - 28.5 oz.

I would suggest the Kowa 55 as well. I have a Kowa 75, and it has been a great optic.

These are made in Japan, aren't they?

I use a Nikon ed50. It’s pretty light, and a good price. I went with the mcii variable eyepiece and the 27x wide angle eyepiece. I dont notice it in my pack at all. Usually when I’m scouting I’l take the bigger spotter with more zoom, but the Nikon works pretty good too.

I just purchased the Maven CS1. Nice little spotter. It was a bit over $1000 Canadian with a few extras included and shipped. Haven’t hunted with it yet but it’s been set up at the house and is nice to look through.
I’ve had the Maven B1 bino’s for a few years and really like them so I figured I’d try the spotter as it fit my budget.
As mentioned I also looked at the Athlon Ares as it’s about the same price and gets good reviews.

I got to look through one of these this summer, so far, it is the nicest scope I’ve ever looked through. Really thinking about swapping out the swarvo for one.

At a good price point, Pentax is tough to beat. Still lighter weight, and pretty compact. It will sit beside my swarvo 99% of the time.

I was running the Swarovski Z3 BT which was really nice but decided to go with the Leupold VX-5 HD to get more Turret for longer shots as we have a 1000M range in town and could only get 700M out of my Z3.

These are made in Japan, aren't they?

A lot of folks say that, but the box said made in china............

The Cronus rifle scopes are built in japan though if i recall correctly.

That being said for the price point i got it for i don't think anything can touch it.

There are many options and kowa would be on the top of my list if you don’t mind spending 2k. The Nikon ed50
is a good option.
