Me and a buddy are looking for a decent fish fillet knife for Salmon.
The blade should be around 12" or so (for bigger Salmon or Hali)
Also needs to be "flexible" and have decent steel to stay sharp.

The Rapala and Berkley knives just don't cut it, imo.
They might be long enough, but are fairly thick and fairly rigid.
And yes, not the greatest steal to stay sharp very long.

Just wondering what the Pro's use.

Did look at say Wusthoff (i have some of their knives already for around he kitchen).
Definitely different with the rounded front, and definitely "pricy".

Hmm have numerous fillet knives..for salmon /hali....NORTH ARM KNIVES...they have a 12 inch knife that WILL do what you want and then some..I know I helped design /refine the prototype..along wits ironnoggin...who is out on the ocean fishing comercially.
The handle is comfortable and non slip with fish slime.the blade is well designed with sufficisn't flex and curve I'm not sure of the steel however it hardly ever needs sharpening in my experience.there is a more $$$$ knife made in Campbell river..fancier but not better IMO.

9 inch knife is not long enough.
Rapala makes excellent knives.
Get a 12 inch.

I would like a 12" blade for sure.
But the Rapala/Berkley stuff is fairly thick and not overly flexible.
Not the ones i have seen anyways.

This Kermode knife meets everything from the looks of it, except for length.
A 20lb plus salmon (if you are even allowed to keep these in the future the way it is going) does fillet better with a longer blade.
This knife for 10 to 15lb for sure is all that is needed.

Buddy picked up a 50lb Hali, and bigger, flexible knife would have been nice.
FYI, we both had Rapala/Berkley knifes, but arent overly impressed with them.
