Buddy and me are considering a hike-in trip to the Shulaps for Sept. 1.

What do you think?

Too hot?

Fire danger?

Too many hikers and bikers and motorized recreationists?

Worth a try anyway?

Marshall Lake side? Yalakom side?

Thanks. I also found out that Yalakom has an evacuation order.

Always a cool place to be. You would have to come from the west side as you already found out!

I have been up the Yalakom many times (not lately) and been up on Yalakom Peak, Chinahead, Big Dog, Nine Mile Ridge, Buck Mtn.
It's an amazing place and would like to go again someday, got my biggest mulie buck there.

I'd think carefully. Big fire up there.

I love that area though.

I was there last year for early 4 point and hunted pretty hard - lots of bears.Going in we happened to bump into CO at gas station in Lillooet. He said the deer population was not good.He was right, we spotted few does and lots of bears. He was called to a bear attack near town while we were talking…

Its just a matter of time before something serious happens in that area with a grizzly encounter. The area is infested with them. Just make sure you are always on your toes.
