Hi, Our crew of hunters (3) just got our first LEH Tag - Shared moose hunt for Oct15-30. We are going into 5-02B. We have been watching the fire map and so far it seems to be an ok area not hit yet. We are also going to scout the area at the end of August. We have got some good areas in mind and will do more research on the scout. If anyone has any information to assist us that would be great? We are not looking for honey holes but just some information to get us closer to success.

Is there a high Bear population?

Wolf Population?

previous fires in the area?

what is the access like ?

is a canoe a good idea ?

This is our first moose hunt and any information would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Hey Ewalk, I don't have a lot of knowledge of the area but I have been successful on a moose hunt. Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you a couple documents that will help you plan your hunt

Bring a tidy tank full of fuel. And good 4X4 tires.

We had the Sept draw in 2015 and 2019 and a couple times before those. Saw a Grizz sow with 2 cubs in 2015 and then another one in 2019 with 3 cubs and a couple lone ones in 2019.
Wolves howling every nite across the road from our camp.

Thanks for the information, I can appreciate learning by trial and error but any nudge along has helped tremendously. From what I have just learned so far from those of you who reached out.. We still have a long ways to go for a success story.

Best of luck to all of you and will post again if successful.

A lot of region 5 is on fire. Most of it won't be out until there's a serious snowfall.
