I have been trying to find a resource, digital or printed that shows names of lakes, creeks, rivers, ranges, etc.
Working with google earth, fatmaps, Canada topo, all of these are online resources. I haven’t tried to get my hands on actual printed maps yet. Can anyone suggest some resources? My focus is northwest and northeast bc , region 6 and 7.

thanks in advance everyone,
Chuck

I just logged into my GAIA GPS page and looked at some areas up in 6-24, 6-25 that we will be Caribou hunting next year. I enabled the "Canada Topo" Layer and it shows a lot of creek/lake names as well as mountain ranges that allot of other maps don't.

Okay and then who also makes printed maps that really look 3D ? I use the Backroad Map Books but they really don’t seem true 3D to me .

There is a fellow on Facebook that has a page called "Top Notch Navigator" (https://www.facebook.com/TopNotchNav/), he has created detailed maps of BC, by region that feature all of the information (and then some!) that you are looking for. I use his Region 3 map files with the Osmand map app on iOS and it works great. Very similar to Gaia GPS with the Backroad Map Books map package but more detailed and super informative. Happy Hunting!

I sent an email to Front Counter BC and asked them if they could build me a map, 1:20,000 scale, 1000 metre grid, 10 metre contours, labels, roads and trails, lakes, rivers streams, labelled and in PDF and georeferenced. One with air imagery base map, the other with contours. Had the map back in a matter of hours and it works great.

I use Avenza as my mapping tool for most hunts. I do have an InReach and use the Earthmate app, but Avenza is great.

Thats very cool, how big was the area you built the map for?

I actually had two maps made, side by side topographically. They are about 14km north south by 10km east west. Each. So in total, the area my maps cover is about 20km east west by 14km north south on the two maps.

McElhanney.com still builds custom maps iirc?
Also BRMB has individual fold-out maps for many? most? all? of BC
