Son's first deer hunt

Well with youth season fast approaching we have been doing lots of planning and practicing for my 10 year old's first hunt. My go to spot for early season is closed due to fires. So now we need to go somewhere new which is tough because I prefer not to spend his first hunting trip scouting. The fire orders are in place until October 15, what are the chances of that changing by September 1? I'm sure there are lots of people rescheduling trips right now, I sure hope this fire season doesn't become normal.

What region/species would Dad prefer?

Hey linksman, we're going to head down to region 3 for the youth deer season. We are in 5-01 and even though there isn't a youth deer season here we may just spend that week looking for a bear instead which are open Sept 1. The boy had a run in with a bear in the back yard on Friday night, but we prefer deer meat.
