How are things looking now for regrowth in the site of the 2017 Elephant Hill fire?

It looks great up there. Lots of green undergrowth.

In the 70 mile area there is a lot of aspen where there wasn’t before at about the 3-4’ height mark. Still a tonne of standing burnt trees and burnt deadfall that was never cleaned up. Haven’t seen much of anything in terms of spruce or pines

The undergrowth is greener for sure, but still seas of dead burnt trees! I believe they have been slowly taking them out in areas.

It's ok up there.
Some areas the fire bypassed, some it just skipped along and other spots burnt right down to the rocks.
So, yup, lots of grasses and smaller plant life right now.
Lots of open area still with not much cover, especially when going into late fall hunts.
I just hope they leave it alone and don't go throwing in transplants all over the place!
Before that fire i wasn't looking forward to how this plateau would grow up and all its logging and transplants.
(nothing natural in that!)
Now, there is hope until someone gets the idea mother nature needs help.
The truth will be to help someone's pocket book, not wildlife.
Wonder how the Spray lk will end up in area burnt, but the combination of it and elephant hill is way better now than had
we begged the dumb ass ministry for a small prescribed burn here or there:razz:
