Fish in Tulameen River???

Has anyone ever fished in the Tulameen River? Or are there crayfish in there? Thinking of bringing some rods or traps to keep the kids busy, is it worth it?

When are you going there and where?
Right now the Tulameen is in flood and really wouldn't be worthwhile and likely dangerous in spots for the kids.
Once the water goes down then depending where you are going to fish it can be a fun spot for kids.
Don't know about crayfish but there are smaller trout and lots of "suckers" and "coarse fish" that can be fun for the kids.
If you are in Tulameen, the Lake has decent fishing for Kokanee and Trout, best from a boat but fishing from the shore along the KVR can be decent at times.
Our Grand Girls fish the Tulameen behind our cabin and have fun fishing it.

Where will you be, in Tulameen or .................... ??
River will be down a lot by July.

Likely camping along the river somewhere around Tulameen Falls depending on how busy it is. Then making daytrips down the river for fishing or hiking into the woods, that's the plan at least

There's a couple of camping spots @ Vuich and then Jacobsen Lake.
Jacobsen Lake has Trout in it, a bit muddy around the Lake but bobber and flies would be good for the kids.
Murphy Lakes are fishable in spots from shore.
Anywhere along the Tulameen might be OK for fly fishing.
If you head into Tulameen, suggest you take Lawless, not the River Road. River Road is horrible.

Hmm does that ever bring back memories from 35 years ago.I was working in Princeton as a Paramedic and often would fish Tulamen river..flyfish..never anything big..but fun..never caught any course fish..great information Iron glove.

Thanks a bunch for the info. Here is to hoping it won't be too busy up there:-) Trying to stay away from the town, just need to get everyone out. 5 days of fly fishing/bobber fishing/rabbit hunting/outdoor cooking with the kids sounds like exactly what is needed

The July Long Weekend, and all Long Weekends there tend to be gong shows, best if you can get up a day before the hordes.
We'll be at our Tulameen cabin that week - finally getting a chance to spend some time with the Grand Girls. :smile:

Yup, great area, we love it and our Son has lived there for @ 20 years - he's fished pretty well every river, creek, lake and mud hole within 100 km. and hunter most of the mountains.
