Hmm I bought a couple spray bottles of insect repellant especially designed for cleaning rugs and head mounts..spray lightly.let sit for a few minutes wipe gently in direction of hair.
Bought it through taxidermist supply store
I did see a deer head consumed by bugs eggs,larvae.disgusting..and $$$$
If I see much dust on the back of the neck I first use one of those lightweight swipper. Duster
So far I use the spray once a year. And never much dirt on wiping with cleaning solution.
I keep the door to my trophy room closed always..never much dust.

My pleasure..if you need contact number I can grab it for you..mounts are expensive and represent a life achievement each of mine hold incredible memories and a sense of acomplishent. Dirt and bugs are bad..

Have always just used feather duster and works fine

Hmm part deux. is a q tip and windex sparingly every couple of years if the glass eyes seemed dull.works great
I was a great proponent of feather swipper.dusters. .still am in certain situations.
However I also tie flies and have a myriad of sources of feathers hides and haired never can be too certain that some bug is along for the ride aND gets introduced to my trophies.
Even if not ever cleaned game mounts can be spruced up
Bugs in a shoulder mount is complete different story..it's what and why I use the spray..it cleanes and adds bug protection.
Lol still " borrow" Susan's feather duster..
Cheers

I have read a lot of different threads like this asking for products to clean their mounts, I was always told to just use a duster or air blower.

My Bear rug that Ray Wiens did for me a decade or so back is still in top notch shape because Ray told my to clean and moisten with "Cowboy Magic" you can get it from any tack store, they use it to brush horses so it must be good and safe.
