My 11 year old son, Cody, finished up his deer season this morning by cutting his LEH Antlerless Muley tag on a nice tastey button buck. One shot with his grandpa's 30-30 and he dropped it. He went 3 for 3 on deer. He killed a youth season whitetail doe, a 4x3 muley buck and a button buck muley. He also killed a beauty 6'4" black bear in the spring. Not bad for his first year of hunting eh?

He even gave his ol' man a break today and drug the deer back to the truck all by himself.

Good going Cody, and good job Dana on letting your son burn up your tags. Not to many people would allow their son to fill all of them.

Marc.

Marc,
Cody cut his tags not mine. He took his CORE this past spring break. I couldn't believe it that he drew a high odds doe tag on his first year trying.

Horshur,
I've hunted everyweekend since Sept 1st but only 1 day for myself, the day I killed my little mountain goat. Now the gloves come off and I start hunting for myself. I'm waiting for you to pull the trigger on a decent okay buck, and then I will know what I need to beat. :)

Ok then I take it back your not that nice of a guy . Just kidding Dana. At least you don't have to worry about putting any meat in the freezer this year.

About as full as mine. :) Actually I might have more. Lets see, 2 bears, Cody's 3 deer, my goat, a half a moose and enough mixed deer and moose from last year to make up another deer. Yup, I'll be holding out till last light on Dec 10th. Can your itchy trigger finger wait that long? :)

Thanks for all the nice comments. Cody is definately one happy hunter and I am one proud dad. I certainly didn't have success like that when I was starting out. I'm already excited about next year, as my daughter will be hunting too. We are already making plans and it looks like an early season QCI hunt will be perfect for the kids.

So Steve, now that Cody has done all the work of filling the family's freezer for the winter, I guess you'll just sleep in for the next month and not bother chasing bucks eh?

Good job Cody, you've had a season that all hunters dream of having!
