2021 LEH Are you applying ?

Okay more than a few threads concerning travel in the province and hunting this year and LEH

How many of you are going to take the gamble and apply for a LEH draw outside your Health Unit in hopes restrictions for travel are lifted for your draw ?

Are you going to risk possibly getting your draw and then not being able to go if travel restrictions continue into the fall . Maybe Hunting will be deemed essential again maybe it won’t ?

If you get your draw and don’t use it your going to have reduced odds for next years draw ?

During the last draw I got the FN there "banned" moose hunting in my area.

I went anyway and the only FN person i saw was doing a salmon assessment on a river miles away from my hunting zone.

If there continues a travel ban by the province though, I would probably not go for an LEH draw. The travel restrictions are there for a reason and despite some of the big talk on some threads on these pages I think most people will make a rational decision in their personal choices.

It would however be somewhat irritating to get a moose ticket and not go and subsequently get reduced odds for another three years. At 68 you can see where that would put me.

Only applied for draws within my health unit... no use in taking opportunities away from others if there are travel restrictions in place...but that's JMHO.

Bought all the usual LEH’s with no consideration for MU. Bison, sheep, goat, elk, moose, whitetail, mule and turkey. Still considering a Caribou draw as well. Hopefully I get lucky like last year and draw a couple

Since I can travel over 7/8th of the province, I will be putting in for everything this year. You hunters in the lower waste land and Communism Island can all put in for the rosies, which again look like less numbers than last year.:razz:

If, by October the travel restrictions are still necessary then the LEH is the least of my concerns. They are tried masks, social distancing, lock downs, travel restrictions (that only apply to some so are completely useless but I digress), and are flirting with the idea of creating a police state. If in 6 months, which even the boy blunder will be able to secure enough vaccines by, things will really have hit the fan and we all really could be hunting and fishing for our food.

Damn straight, put them in the other day, among them group & shared. LEH itself is a gamble as the odds are stacked against us from the get go for many of them. At $30 & change a pop, it's a pretty cheap gamble, win, lose or draw.... haha, see what I did there? With any luck that money you spend may actually go to conservation....

I had to enter and go through my usual process.... studying the hunt oportunities, making my final choices, then waiting impatiently for the deadline date to pass, guessing on the date the draws will be held, and when it arrives, steeling myself as I sign in to the leh site, followed by the misery compounded year after year..... unless of course I win one for a change.

Thanks to the government hunting is not essential service any more:

Travel for hunting and fishing, whether for food or for recreation, is not considered essential. At the discretion of police, people not obeying the travel restrictions may be subject to a $575 fine.
The Provincial Health Officer strongly recommends that outdoor recreation such as hunting and fishing be limited to your local community and that you not travel within your region during this time.
