Hi fellow members. Im looking to take a couple of kids bear hunting. Im just looking for tips on what area is better. Im wanting to be within a 3 hr drive of Vancouver. Im not a bear hunting kinda guy but the boys are pretty pumped. Choices are .
1.South of hwy3 from manning to princeton
2. North of hwy3 manning to princeton.
3. South of coquihalla hope to merrit.
4. North of coquihalla hope to merrit.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Try to have a Binocular available for each of the Kids. I have the feeling you Guys going to have the time of your life perhaps even success.

Sorry but I cant help you with the areas you are referring too, my "expertise" in good Bear holding areas are much further north !

Good Luck and a great adventure

Cheers

All of those areas are good. Keep below the snowline and find some green and you'll find em :)

X2. The kids will just love getting out. Show them a good time, teach some skills. Good luck and have fun.

I’ve had good luck with bears on either side of the #3 between Manning and princeton

Good idea.

Avoid the long weekend if you can.

I just got back from West Kootney's and there's still snow around the 1000m elevation. Didn't see much for bear sign where I was at. I'm no expert by any means but I felt it was a bit too early IMO. The old grass was still very flat like the snow had just finished melting and there wasn't any new grass coming up. Just my 2 cents

makes sense, it’s not May yet.

only the island is lucky enough to hunt bear in April usually I’d wager.

I might think about taking a drive up the Squamish valley. Just a thought.
