What’s your favourite way to caffeinate when you’re out and about?

I actually quit drinking coffee for a couple of years because I couldn’t handle the nuisance of making a coffee in the bush before I could do anything. I like to just get up and go, but I would get a headache pretty quickly without it. Anyways, I’ve been back on it for a couple months now and I’m probably not going back.

I always have my jetboil with me and my favourite is to bring along the aeropress go with a fellow prismo. 20 grams of coffee, 50 grams of water for the shot and add another 200-250 ml of water for a hillbilly Americano.

Im thinking some caffeine pills or something would be good for those days when you want to get up and assault something before first light.

I like Starbucks Via coffee, or instant coffee.
I'm not a coffee conosseur, I just need it so my head doesn't explode, so I'm not particular about it.
Especially in the bush.

Starbucks is definitely the best instant option by far. Expensive, but worth every penny, or nickel I guess.

this is a little unorthodox, but if you can find a caffeine heavy pre-workout you don't need to go through the hassle of heating water (though it's really not much different from a caffeine pill).

If I'm going light it's Via stuff or similar from Starbucks. Easy, right dose.

If I have my druthers it's real coffee.

Starbucks Via if it’s light weight. Stove top espresso otherwise. The darker the better.

LMAO, I have some coffee beans in my jacket to chew on in emergencies. Whoever is on their feet first in the morning in camp gets water boiling for instant coffee.

This is an issue for me. I quit coffee once and after a few months started again. Life was different for a while.
I am considering quitting it again. It bugs me.

They definitely do. It took me about six days when I quit a couple of years ago. After my vasectomy a couple years ago, I got sick right after and that’s what prompted it. I was laying on the couch for over a week, so I decided to get the suffering over and done with.

I am admittedly a coffee snob. I have 5 espresso machines (3 stove top, a Saeco at home and a Nespresso in the camper.

Vias are great, but I also like Starbucks cold espresso cans. The 200ml ones are tiny and light. The 500 ml ones are sugar bombs. Coke Classic works for me too.

Willmore park, Alberta. I can’t remember the exact name of the creek running in the background, but it will probably come to me in the middle of the night

I think it’s seep creek

With pickup truck and canopy camping,

I plug my coffee grinder into the inverter ,

that plugs into my lighter.

Have to start the truck to run it though!

Single cup cone filter...

I can pour a 1/4 cup of cream and it’s still black! ;-)

Yup I was going to say that, and done that. Any coffee made out hunting is a lazy afternoon thing. Mornings are up and out in 10min, breakfast is my home made oat, nut, fruit bars.

Starbucks Instant plus a packet of Nestle Mocha for the sweetener, Deadly tasting Combo. Now that's back pack hunting. If your RV Trailer camping the i do the boil it over the stove with traditional Metal coffeee pot with filter, But the aluminum filter also gets a paper coffee filter to reduce the amount of grounds in your teeth.

I prefer the G7 Espresso sachets over Starbucks Via. They're much harder to find, but way cheaper and I think they taste better. I've also made a bunch of my own with the Nescafe Gold instant espresso and milkshake straws, just pinch and melt the ends shut with a lighter. The homemade ones work out to about $0.20 each.

Black Rifle is getting in to the instant game too. Their Blackbeard’s Delight is a great coffee. And they are really big in supporting veterans etc. The owners are both hunters, and are really great guys.

No matter how early I plan to leave I always budget enough time for at least one cup before I try and do anything.

I like Starbucks Via but if I have a few extra minutes the Aeropress is better. Can't argue with the simplicity of Via and I find the taste quite acceptable.

I actually like the taste of a fresh roasted coffee bean so I have my chocolate covered espresso beans without the chocolate. They get kind of gross if they aren't fresh but I've been known to gnaw down a few anyway.

Id like to try one of these out too. Probably similar to an aeropress for flavour.

I also only drink fresh roasted beans. Once you start, there’s no going back.

I don’t drink energy drinks or anything and I’d be a little bit worried of how I’d feel if I had a pre workout on an empty stomach.

I might be bucking the tide here, but seeing as I cannot digest coffee I make 1/12 to 2 cups of chai with strong black tea, milk, honey and spices in the morning on the tailgate, drink that with a huge piece of apple cake or home made bread with peanut butter and jam well before daylight and then I'm off hunting for the day.

Redbull the moment I wake up. That gives me enough boost to get out of my sleeping bag so I can start making coffee (in the rare case my wife hasn't made sone already or I'm solo)

Those Starbucks Via packs as others have mentioned are very good and convenient.

We use a pocket rocket stove to boil up water really quick. Also picked up another pocket stove recently that came with an adapter so it can use propane or isopro butane (I imagine the same adapter would work on the pocket rocket) so much cheaper.

If we have time its the old dripper, but if its hurrisome jagermeister; not too much 1/2 ounce ; tummy wakes up you will feel awake and here comes the poop train! Once you try it you will believe! My old Ukie uncle used to give us a tablespoon of his hooch on the farm in alberta to get up and do chores , then auntie would have breakfast ready an hour later talk about production who says spirits aren't salvation? I hear ya, I just need caffeine to avoid the withdrawal headache. So I’m pretty sure I’ve got most folks beat with how low my standards are for my caffeine intake: while sheep hunting I just open a pack of Via down the powder and wash it down with a mouthful of water. It’s awful.

if I'm camping in the wall tent, then percolator on the stove, or french press....I don't like to get up and go, I like to wake up early and slowly get ready, let the morning dump work itself out before I start hunting

for backpacking I like the starbucks instant stuff, easy to find and tastes good...but the best stuff was probably Jed's bean bags, which I've only ever seen in NZ....it's a tea bag with ground coffee, simple and easy, I flew home with a big supply of the stuff

https://www.jedscoffee.co.nz/our-coffee/bean-bags/

you could buy empty tea bags and make your own pretty easily

Each pouch contains about 25mg of caffeine, the chocolate mint flavor is 2x. Totally backpackable as it’s the same size as a can of chew.

Not coffee, and I haven't tried it myself but I might this season - I've seen these "gel packs" at various hiking stores and online that all these long distance high tech hikers seem to be using these days.
