Not sure what happened but there was a time you could buy Maglite bulbs anywhere , now I can’t find them except online . Anyone know where to buy them in the LowerMainland ?
Also has anyone done an LED upgrade for 3 D cell one ? Is it worth it ? Can you buy those locally also ?
Thanks !

Maglites have gone the way of the dodo bird! I do recall they used to have a spare bulb stored inside the unit? Have you used that one up?

I have a 3 D cell maglight, but it's collecting dust, maybe there is an LED conversion available.

I have several and switched to led bulbs off amazon.-
ca

great output and battery life, don’t regret the small investment into these classic beating sticks

Arctic, I changed out the original bulbs on 2 Maglights for LEDs a few years. Got the LED bulbs out of a battery store in Reno when I was at the sheep show. The bulbs were pricey, but like you I like the Maglites. Buying on line is likely to be your best bet. The battery life and light output are both enhanced.

That said, a complete new flashlight with smaller batteries that would outperform the old Maglight is likely pretty cheap...maybe cheaper than the LED bulb conversion. Good luck!

I used to have several of different sizes, lots of mini maglites in vehicles, outbuildings and packs. Every now and then I find one and it's almost nostalgic :)

I have a C and D Cell Maglite. Both LED and love 'em. Had them for years.

I know I bought a couple of Minimag's over the years but no idea where they are now.

Pretty sure I can buy a 10 pack of tiny flashlights on Amazon that would outperform any Maglite I've ever had.

But I like the larger Maglites because, especially after a few drinks, I can easily find them in my sleeping bag, and holding them is almost like hanging on to a grab bar in a bathroom. :-)

Looks like LED bulbs are available on Amazon the price is $11-19.

I’m a bit of a flashlight whore. Nothing worse than fumbling around without light. Came out from Elk hunting one night from the high alpine only to realize my light was dead. And of course it was a moonless cloudy night. That was one long stumble back to the truck, but we finally made it. Ever since then, I’m prepared with extra light :)
You can buy quality led lights at a reasonable price now, so conversions aren’t really saving you money. My old mag lights/pelicans are just dust collectors now.

Yeah, the new LED lights are smaller, lighter and more powerful.

I put the TerraLux 1000 lumen LED conversion in my 4D Maglight a good few years ago, and it’s still a powerfull weapon against the dark. And a club as always.

It would, if it wasn't discontinued.
Best I can find is 280 lumens at this point:

I don't know if you are aware that Maglite came with a spare bulb in the base of the light and not seeing it mentioned in this thread thought I should mention that you may not have to emergency shop to replace the burned out bulb. All of mine have had the spare, maybe yours does too?

I’m pretty sure the one I bought was for 4-6D maglights, but as already mentioned, it seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. In reality it cost nearly as much as a good LED flashlight that uses 18650 rechargeable lithium batteries, so maybe there’s a reason.

I did find this on fleabay, have no idea if they’re any good. And even more spendy. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/MAGLITE-UPGRADE-LED-3-6-D-BULB-GLOBE-for-TORCH-FLASHLIGHT-3-6-9V-1000lm-DIMMABLE/222438025981?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item33ca56eafd:g:nREAAOSwzgBYxeDR&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACgBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%252 Fn%252BzU5L90Z278x5ickkgCVySCgrNFPU8Iu85TabMNy7pUR PzLcxXIMEcN%252BTpQOcKfU1%252FVtOkyg%252BOrxC49WhK p4aGBfH4LJzQDqmVMFAh2CIfji%252FPWyT8R%252BDbyORz%2 52BZ1BFhyZNvyHG4JZdYd9%252BR7ZfE7oRGvN1uuIVONAkPyH rlj%252FTQn5jCAz7%252FyWfEoUxx9a%252BEgfk46g0Kqmzg %252FVrC5hRkkr1NKG4WyBzhl7uLamiZmOAnSXXW5b52EkrXlh TGn7ULVEw8r0dMC60UkKhQSPyp6LMzNPHETj4%252B6%252F8S 25fvVbSRqtQOoks7NjycNyNphHSDZLParznQS0YLgvSU0gVbLV VbQ6jezEcEuyRE1UaVvTgweWyrpVNi63yjXfT0fwjeS9T3gXvt B%252Fpmqqha1SfDYZd9pUrrJhSsLxLsUevJiJxqMd95NrS7g1 Py7tW68MWzu3%252B98m6PzkeLfp1Cm%252BDfK6QLnyXmAxrK tK51aUwYg3jSKitv17mbF9dqUIO%252BwiczdQxfLDEXF4IQ39 %252FfdPuxyGX3JUJv1u%252BtDhZG9eoz3DZjcdsuu1Xj%252 FJbymL2aczME49HZefdf%252BcDH3R4Ztgq0He5TWhGKf%252F %252FtuLBUPZQvmYsgeFb6bOaHMambRlhgoNr5d8jxLiY41dsK RzCAmhyZMx0F8xDBhu3rLGpTIDiMU%252BAS9ToG3Ol60gfifo 6qpyVMbuhM874iqaLSxRz2n1vhyYMS1DenW%252BrahpP4NHAv 8QQRwnvJk10uJthEPGf1UrBy3oB2psYBtQ%252FtSDtT5AWkeB KwgJVz5RPfe3TJ%252B102JRQLUM8VDnV1aZiCOKsk%253D%7C cksum%3A222438025981f13455cdb1d14dc6b578e24189f585 35%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2334524

i have an Led in my maglite from 2010 - No idea on lumens, but if you want it, i'll give it to you for free.

That one showed up in two days? Surprised the hell out of me.
The bulb made a huge difference in brightness.
Hit the button with the old batteries in it, and could actually look right at the bulb it was so dim.
Replaced the bulb with this new one (not the batteries) and POW!
Uber Bright even with 3/4 toasted batteries.
Put new batteries in, and Walla! The Sun!

Excellent waste of 20 clams in my opinion.

Cheers,
Nog

You are more than welcome.
Only reason I even tried them was this thread.
So we both benefited!
And yeah, Uber Bright is right!
