Nice Harry. Great father/son project and heat for those cold days/nights; priceless!!!

Nice job Harry!

Awesome family project. The best part will be trying it out in the field.

I bought one of the titanium ultralight ones last year. I think the chimney is 2.5" and the firebox is 7x20". Much smaller than I imagined. Yours will keep a good size space warm and dry.

Nice Project but unless you modify it to be as Airtight as one wants in a Stove you will burn Wood like crazy, generate way to much heat for a short time and need to feed the Beast every 45 minutes and forget a good nights sleep. Been there done that.

Cheers

I like the 5 gallon formwork on the post. [ post saddle seems a little overkill ]

did you make the fire box or was it from something else? I recognize the cap as a wall vent. nice looking project.

Looks like a repurposed welder cabinet maybe? Nice job, good project to build on

I hear ya...when I tested it out and closed the air intake, it seemed to burn a while....

Any idea what kind of paint that is on the outside? I'd make sure to burn 'er good & hot a number of times outdoors to burn off anything nasty that might be in the paint.

That’s duct pipes, is that going to withstand the heat?

Maybe , but I understand the fumes coming off it could be deadly . I would definitely burn it hot while outside... see how much it warps esp the door and burn the finish off the pipes . If that's ducting at the bottom it will melt and you will know

Beware! the burnt galvanizing of off the pipe will make you sick as well as the paint .You might want to get real stove pipe.Canadian tire has it

Totally agree on burning hot to burn the paint. I'm worried about the duct pipe for regular use. They were never intended to be used with that kind of heat.

Dont mean to be a downer just dont want you or your son to get sick .Zinc oxide from burnt galvanizing can make you real sick ,flu like symptoms.
Nice job just the same.

^^^^good to know, thank you....yes I plan on burning it hot a few times before using it in the tent....is the zinc oxide a coating that will burn off like the paint??

Yes it is. Its more of a problem at welding temperatures, not so much at wood fire temps, but why take a chance
get it red a couple f times, see how it stands up.

Green smoke is a clue

^^^^good to know thanks....no green smoke at all...got it super hot by burning it in my fire-pit outside, got all the paint off, then scraped off any remnants after that....just got the tent finally, and burned it with a CO detector inside as well....
