Big (& long) day for junior

Got up early this morning and got a cord of wood with the family including my eleven year old son Levi. Took the .22 along and he plinked a bit but we saw no grouse. came home and had lunch then he shot the pellet gun for quite a while, creating amputees from green army men (MEDIC! MEDIC! :grin:) then we headed up to a cut block where we'd spotted a buck twice previous and did some rattling. It was getting late so we didn't sit long but circled the large block to loop back to the truck and coming over a rise saw a buck heading to our last rattling location. The buck spotted us first but stopped at 80 yards and Levi double lunged him with his Grandfathers .270. The boy was SUPER pumped and hooked for life I think. :smile: :smile:

Kirk, he shoots the bow lots but won't have the strength to pull hunting weight for at least five years. He's flung at a half dozen grouse this year but his light recurve won't shoot flat and those grouse are always just out of range. He did get a nice mixed bag of 2 spruce, 1 ruffed and 2 blue grouse this fall with the .410

Bow or gun it doesn't matter Clint, just as long as the kid is out hunting. We are going to be at Rock Creek for the bow only season,why don't ya pop in for a few days. Next year I guess we be go'in to visit JT and the Python for the late season hunt. You should make plans now. Be like old times.
