Hey guys, what's a good quality rubber boot to buy?

Something comfortable for rainy blacktail hunting. Not too technical terrain, but 10+ km walking per day.

Bonus points is they are warm and can have my custom orthotics insoles put inside.

Thanks ... I dont have much experience with these other tha $19.99 pair from Canadian tire I use around the yard.

I have a pair of Marks Workwearhouse Dunlop knockoffs. They have a steel toe and are a bit heavy but I find them comfortable as hell with my aftermarket insoles. Super warm too.

I use Dunlops for almost everything now.

Muck boots make a variety of good boots with different levels of insulation. I use the arctic pros in the interior and love them for anything wet or cold. I have hiked 15km days and never had an issue, you can add orthotics but they arent the stiffest boots out there. I go through a pair a year but wear them 200 plus days of hard use.

I liked my muck boots. Until my dog chewed them into shreds.

I like my short Rocky rubber boots. Neoprene from ankle to shin height. Lots of miles on them.

I have the woody Max muck boots. I put 35+km on them over 3 days elk hunting. No complaints

Dunlop Purofort. Grip, Comfort, Safety.

I bet I've done more miles in mine, hunting and working, than anyone who doesn't wear Dunlop Puroforts.

I like muck boots, but I only get a year or two out of them, they seem to snag and puncture pretty easily. Iv found that a good fit helps with longer walks. My last pair I sized up 1/2 size to accommodate thicker socks, but was a bad move. My next pair I will size back 1/2.

This is pretty much my exact experience. I find it has to be at least -10 to wear the arctic pros or my feet sweat.

In 2012 I bought a pair of the Cabela's branded camo rubber boots. Use them on the Charlotte's for a few Blacktail hunts and every year since and they are still going strong with the zero leaks

I’m running the lacrosse alpha burly pros with 800g of thinsulate and couldn’t be happier and I easily hiked triple digit KMs with them on this season, and lately I’ve been wearing them hiking into all the good fishing holes and am still extremely happy with my purchase ! The camp pattern fades a bit with heavy use but the boot is light comfortable and has good tread grip.

Simms makes awesome rubber boots but they are expensive.

I ran bogs and loved them but the tread life is poor. Muck boots have served me well. There are several models so you need to try a few out.

I wear Muck boots for duck hunting and have had the same pair for at least 7 years now. I use them 10-20 times per season and have had zero leaks to date.

Guys, can you drive or operate an ATV in Muck boots?

The wetland model looks awesome, but they look so bulky. It would be nice if driving in them wasn't an issue.

Also, if you're a half size, did you go up or down to the kearest whole size?

So if I'm a 11.5 in everything, do you recommend I go with size 11? (They dont have half sizes from what I can see)

Dunlops pretty decent. Good for everything, icefishing, water, slush etc... Not the best for any length of hiking around. Buy half size bigger and use a pair of bama liners. Keeps your feet sweat free pretty much. Nice to have a set handy. Worth the money, will last.

Depending on how much you wear mucks they punch out quite a bit. I go a size smaller than normal and you wont need big socks, they are warm. I buy them in september and wear them everyday until the summer starts, by then they are a size bigger atleast.

Mucks here for me as well. I have used my mucks through everything including ripping around on the honda crf250 and on my Yamaha kodiak. No problems. I have the arctic pros. They aren't that bulky at all.

i like the dunlops....think my newest pair is the explorer model, grey in colour, the tread is more aggressive than the green models, I like them for slower paced hiking, good for ice fishing....wouldn't wear them for a strenuous hike, my feet would be swimming in puddles of sweat

I've got the Muck boots in arctic sport and love them for hunting, walking the dog and riding the quad.

We’re using Muck Wetland Field boots for short walks when really wet and great for using on our boat trips. They’re also warm and comfortable for quading, but not a hiking boot.

I like my muck boots. For work though, Dunlops. Plus you'll be like 2" taller in the dunnys.

Thanks for the replies gents. I ended up with a pair of Muck wetland boots.

They seemed quite nice for longer walks and they were on sale at cabelas for $129.99

The sizing is a bit funny .... the 12 seemed a bit big. The 11 is maybe a touch on the smaller side. I went with the 11 and we'll see if they push out a 1/2 size

Have a pair of mucks that are great... Also have a brand new never worn pair of Baffin Ambush waterproof rubbers. Anybody tried them out? Curious how they compare....

I always use Xtratuf boots during hunting. But hunting boots are little bit expensive. Here well described why are hunter boots so expensive? (https://huntingprofy.com/why-are-hunter-boots-so-expensive/)Also Whites Outdoorsman boot - uninsulated - the Montana Claw lug sole Best I've used in all types of terrain and conditions. They will make the boot to fit your feet too if you want to go that route.
